10 stitch markers

Measurements

Creating the Base of the Bag

  • Begin with a slip knot and chain 23 stitches
  • Work 22 single crochet stitches into the back bumps of the chain, starting from the second bump
  • Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch)
  • Work single crochet stitches by inserting the hook into the top loop of the current stitch and the closest loop from the previous row’s chain
  • Repeat until the base reaches approximately 6.5 cm in width and 21 cm in length

Crocheting the Body of the Bag

  • Work 5 single crochet stitches along the short edge
  • Work 22 single crochet stitches along the long edge
  • Work 5 single crochet stitches on the opposite short edge
  • Work 22 single crochet stitches on the remaining long edge, inserting into three strands of yarn
  • Total stitch count: 54 stitches
  • Continue working in a spiral pattern, making single crochet stitches in each stitch
  • Work until the bag reaches a height of 16–17 cm

Creating the Handle Openings

  • Find the center of the top edge and place stitch markers for four handle openings
  • Crochet until the first marker
  • Chain 2, skip the marked stitch, and work 2 single crochet stitches
  • Chain 2, skip the next marked stitch, and work 4 single crochet stitches
  • Chain 2, skip the next marked stitch, and work 2 single crochet stitches
  • Chain 2, skip the next marked stitch, and continue with 15 single crochet stitches
  • Repeat the same chain-skip-stitch pattern for the other side
  • In the next round, work one single crochet into each chain space and continue with single crochet stitches in the remaining stitches
  • Work a few more rounds of single crochet to reinforce the top

Finishing the Top Edge

  • Crochet until reaching the middle of a short edge
  • Make a slip stitch, cut the yarn, and pull it through to secure
  • Weave in the yarn end with a tapestry needle
  • Optionally, add a border using reverse single crochet stitches

Making the Handle

  • Leave a tail of trapillo yarn (80–100 cm)
  • Make a slip knot
  • Hold the working yarn and the long tail together
  • Pass the tail over the hook and pull the working yarn through both loops on the hook
  • Repeat this stitch to form the desired handle length

Attaching the Handle

  • Thread the handle through the four openings on the bag
  • Adjust the length to your preference
  • Join the ends of the handle with a tapestry needle, weaving securely through the stitches
