  • Tapestry needle
  • Two stitch markers
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • A carabiner for the accessory
  • A leather strap

Foundation Chain

  • Make a slip knot and chain 34 stitches

First Row

  • Work in the back bumps of the chains, starting from the second bump from the hook
  • Make a half double crochet in each of the 33 back bumps

Subsequent Rows

  • Chain one for height at the beginning of each new row
  • Turn your work and make a half double crochet in each of the 33 stitches, working through both loops
  • Continue this until you have 17 rows

Marking for Assembly

  • Count 16 stitches from the end of the last row and place a stitch marker in the 17th stitch
  • Repeat this on the other side

Joining the Sides

  • Fold the piece in half
  • Use single crochet stitches to join the sides together
  • Work 16 single crochet stitches, joining the outer loop of the chain on one side to the outer loop on the other
  • Cut the yarn and repeat on the other side

Adding a Border

  • Turn the bag right side out
  • Make a chain stitch and work single crochet stitches around the opening of the bag

Finishing the Border

  • Once you’ve worked single crochet stitches all the way around, make a slip stitch in the top loop of each single crochet stitch
  • When you reach the end, cut the yarn
  • Use a tapestry needle to weave the tail through the first slip stitch and back into the last one to create a seamless finish

Final Touches

  • Attach the rings to the sides of the bag
  • Add the strap and any desired accessories
